Hands of Love begins with seven mud huts and 188 children in rural Namadhi, Uganda.

The first western missionary visits the Hands of Love orphanage and launches our child sponsorship program by obtaining sponsors for six children.
2005
Hands of Love UK is founded for support and to expand the sponsorship program.
2006
The first Hands of Love Primary School is opened in the Namadhi orphanage.
2008
Hands of Love USA is founded for support and to increase sponsorship.
2009
The second Hands of Love orphanage and school is built in Kabaga-Kampala. Now the older children have access to high school education, which is unavailable in Namadhi.
2010
The number of children being cared for in both orphanages reaches 1,000. More dormitory and classrooms are built.
2012
Water wells are built at the Kiteezi and Namadhi orphanages. The children’s hygiene and wellness improve dramatically.

Electricity is turned on in the Kiteezi orphanage. Most of the children have never had access to electricity and the safety it can provide.
2013
Convoy of Hope, a faith-based organization that provides disaster relief across the world, agrees to partner with us to help feed our children.

Namadhi is outfitted with solar power. For the first time, these children have access to electrical power.
2015
The number of children in our care reaches 1600. Additional classrooms and dormitories are built.
2016
The Hands of Love medical facility opens.
2016
The Maama Eseza Babies’ Home opens to rescue and nurture orphaned and abandoned babies, newborn to age three.
2016
The Hands of Love Kabaga-Kampala Primary School is ranked 3rd best out of 48,000 Ugandan schools and has the top two ranking Math students in the country.
2016
The number of children in our care reaches 2,000.
2017
The first class of 25 students graduate from Hands of Love with either high school degrees or vocational school degrees. Less than 2% of Uganda’s population currently completes high school.
2019
God is Able Building was completed, seen here receiving its final coat of paint, and recently retrofitted with running water and toilets. A beautiful place for our children to learn and grow.
2021
Staff Housing construction began in 2019. All four floors (the entire project) have been funded with a scheduled completion during 2021. Once completed it will accommodate 48 staff members and their families.
